September 2024 Gleanings

Meet the Mayor, Mahalo to our sponsors!

Who’s going to be our next mayor? Two candidates made it through the Primary Election, and here’s your chance for some one-on-one time, along with a delicious pupu lunch Sept. 21 at the Hilo Yacht Club. We still have a few tickets left, and you won't want to miss it.

Interested in joining a committee? Want to serve on the BIPC board next year? Email President Tiffany Hunt: newswoman@mac.com

We're already planning our Torch of Light luncheon with this year's winner, retired Intermediate Court of Appeals Judge Daniel Foley. Save the date -- December 14 at Pueo's Osteria in Waikoloa.

Have news to share? Just email Gleanings editor Nancy Cook Lauer at nclauer@gmail.com for inclusion in an upcoming issue.

Next Meeting: 9 a.m. Sept. 14 via Zoom. Email Director Jim Wilson at jimwilsonvolcanocottage@gmail.com for a link.

Message from the President

We are in the throes of planning the Sept. 21 Mayoral Forum at the Hilo Yacht Club, and we hope you can take the time to join us. It’s bound to be a successful event, with scrumptious food and good company, along with thought-provoking conversations. We are putting together some pretty compelling questions for our mayoral candidates to answer, and Ken Hupp is slated to be a moderator along with a panel of seriously cool people. I don’t want you to see me and say Shoulda Coulda Woulda. Just take a moment and sign up and join us as soon as you can. Know that we will be using this gathering as an opportunity to raise funds for our scholarships, and this event will be when we launch our online auction. Remember that from last year? We were able to give out a few more thousand dollars in scholarship funds this spring, thanks to that auction.

So, hopefully I have convinced you to join us Sept. 21. A Hui Hou!

Wishing you all the best!

Aloha,

Tiffany Hunt,
Your president
